To those of you who are unaware, today is National HIV Testing Day. Estimates indicate that more than 250,000 people in the U.S. alone are infected and are not aware of it. This day is critical to the fight against HIV/AIDS because it presents an opportunity for people nationwide to learn their HIV status, and to gain the knowledge they need to take control of their health and their lives. However, we must not forget the countless number outside the U.S. that are also unaware of their HIV status. If you haven't seen the movie Dear Francis please take the time to watch on Showtime tonight at 9 pm or buy it on the internet. This movie speaks specifically to what it can mean for someone to find out their HIV status and what changes in their life they can make with that knowledge in hand. If you or someone you know is at risk for HIV you can find a testing center near you and receive a free test. Take this chance to make a difference in your life or the lives of others. One way or another may we all actively participate in the fight to stop this and other preventable diseases!
